Kevin is an experienced music industry manager, musician and composer. Kevin specialises in open tuning compositions for both steel string acoustic and nylon strung classical guitar and also composes library music for piano and string orchestra. He is currently recording a new solo album and also performs regularly with the CelloTones – a Devon based cello and guitar duo.
Kevin has recently been signed to Volta Music (Universal Music) for a collaboration contemporary drama library music album due for release in 2021.
Kevin got his first guitar at 12 years old when an American serving in the armed forces returning home from a UK base asked a family friend if they knew someone who would appreciate having his Dallas 12 string guitar. That gift started a dream and a music career culminating in performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival’s Acoustic Music Centre (sell-out show for his debut album The Wine List), the legendary Yardbird Club in Birmingham and folk clubs and festivals around the UK.
Kevin lives in Torquay where he has also worked in various cover duo’s and bands including many years as resident band Sound Company at the popular Spinning Wheel live music venue in Paignton.
Off stage, Kevin worked for the City Music retail chain until 1994 when he established his own music instrument shop, recording studio and guitar school…..Applestone Music where MUSE recorded some of their first songs. In 2003, Kevin sold Applestone Music and founded the Academy of Music & Sound which has become one of the UK’s largest national network of specialist guitar, bass, drum, vocals and music music production colleges offering music industry courses for school leavers, degrees (up to Masters level) and creative apprenticeships.
